 V.I.P.s visit Phipps & Bird

Richmond , VA--   Hector Barreto, Administrator of the U. S. Small Business Administration, and Senator George Allen toured the Phipps & Bird manufacturing facility located at Summit Avenue and Moore Street on Thursday, August 19^th.

          The visit follows Phipps & Bird’s recent acquisition of two buildings in Richmond ’s “Scott’s Addition” industrial park.  The acquisition, funded by C.I.T. Small Business Lending Corp. and Virginia Asset Finance Corp., is backed by an SBA guarantee.

          Phipps & Bird provides turn-key contract manufacturing services to local businesses in addition to producing its own proprietary line of analytical equipment.  The company, founded by state senator Lloyd C. Bird in 1925, moved to Scott’s Addition in 1996.
